Senior administrators and professional heads in the various ministries, departments and agencies of government met recently, in a two- day workshop, at the Ministry of Finance to develop a Competency Framework for the Civil Service in Sierra Leone.
Organized by the Human Resource Management Office, the workshop is supported by the EU, Multi Annual Program Estimate, to enhance effective and efficient service delivery in the civil service.
The Director General of the Human Resource Management Office, Mr. Ansu Samuel Tucker described competency framework as a novelty and that the workshop was basically to develop a systematic process in the operations of the civil service in future.
He said notwithstanding the academic credentials or experiences of workers or would be workers, competency framework will provide the much needed requirements for advancement in the service.
Mr. Tucker said the workshop aimed at eliciting the views of colleagues to develop leadership, technical, managerial, supervisory and communication competencies, which similar exercises have been conducted in the regions.
The Secretary to Cabinet and Head of the Civil Service, Mr. John Sumaila said the introduction of the Competency Framework will be relevant in future recruitment, retention, promotion and succession plan in the civil service.
